A Letter From Fr. Joe to the Parishioners of The Holy Family- Thanet

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

First, I would like to thank you all for the warm welcome you have shown me since I arrived as your Parish Priest three weeks ago. I really feel your delight in welcoming me.

I am settling in well and my time here so far has been good.

I very much look forward to being here. I am excited to work with you. I trust with the help of God we will have a happy and fruitful time.

In a poster you kindly made for the parish noticeboard to welcome me, you wrote: “We are delighted to be your first parish (as Parish Priest). We hope together we will rebuild the Parish with much energy going forward.”

Thank you for these words. This is exactly what I intend for the parish; that together with the help of God we can rebuild it with energy, enthusiasm and joy.    I invite all of you to be part of this exciting journey. Already many of you have shown a lot of generosity with your time in offering to do things for the parish.

Our Archbishop John Wilson has also given me his blessings to pursue a Master of Arts in Theological Studies with concentration in Sacred Scripture at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, USA. I am doing this online and combining it with my parish ministry. It is my hope this will not only nourish me intellectually and spiritually but will also enhance my ministry to you.

Although, I am staying at the presbytery of St. Ethelbert in Ramsgate as presbytery is not ready, I am keen to fully serve you. So please contact me in person or via the parish email.

I wish you every blessing in the week ahead.

In Christ,

Fr. Joe Owusu-Ansah
