HANDING OVER OF THE PARISH OF THE HOLY FAMILY -THANET
A message from Canon David:
I have written to His Grace, Archbishop John Wilson, to offer my resignation as Parish Priest of the Holy Family, Birchington and Westgate. I have done 52 years’ service as a priest and I look forward to a long retirement. I will be handing over the parish to a new priest.
I wish you all well. May God bless you all.
A message from the new Parish Priest:
My name is Fr Joseph Owusu-Ansah. I am a priest of the Archdiocese of Southwark. I was ordained a priest in July 2014 at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark after seminary formation at St John’s Seminary, Wonersh. My previous appointments have been as an assistant priest at Holy Ghost Parish, Balham for three years, then assistant priest at St Thomas More Parish, Dulwich for two years and lastly as an assistant priest at St Teresa of Avila Parish, Ashford for one year. I am happy to be appointed as Parish Priest of The Holy Family-Thanet and I look forward to joining the parish at the beginning of September 2020.
Welcome to the Parish of the Holy Family. We hope that our website highlights the wide variety of worship, fellowship and service opportunities available.
We will welcome the stranger and be committed to the 'option for the poor'. We recognise that God blessed every one of us with great and different gifts and we commit to share our gifts and our time. To take responsibility for our part of building up the Kingdom of God: Through active participation in our Parish liturgy, ministries, sacramental programmes and social activities. In the wider community through service and witness.
We, the Parish of the Holy Family, embracing the Catholic communities of Birchington and Westgate-on-Sea, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark, take as our model The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. We strive to be a family in which we will pray for one another, know each other by name, value and care for each other.
We ask you Lord Jesus to strengthen and deepen our love for each other, and to help us to espouse in the way we live our lives, the trust and faith of the Holy family of Nazareth, and to bring to fruition our aspirations and effort for the glory of God and the good of all. Amen.
